Rebecca Lim wins NSW Premier’s History Award

We are thrilled to announce that Two Sparrowhawks in a Lonely Sky, written by our client Rebecca Lim, has been awarded the 2024 NSW Premier’s History Award in the Young people’s history prize category. Congratulations Bec!

Two Sparrowhawks in a Lonely Sky (A&U) tells the story of siblings Fu and Pei, who live in a rural village with their mother in Southern China. Their community is already struggling when it is collectivised under Mao Zedong's Great Leap Forward campaign. When tragedy strikes, Fu and Pei must embark on a dangerous journey across borders and oceans in search of their father, who left for Australia nearly a decade earlier.

Of the winners, Senior Judge Professor David Lowe said: “The winners for this year include emerging and senior scholars and others who enrich historical knowledge from different vantage points and life stages. In all cases, they demonstrate the value of deep research that provokes new thinking on how the past intrudes insistently on our present. I congratulate all winners, and their publishers and producers, for adding significantly to our understanding of the human condition and how we see ourselves in relation to what has come before.”

Congratulations to all the winners!
